A-Trak – Infinity +1

DJ A-Trak’s latest album, Infinity +1, is an impressive collection of remixes which blend together hip-hop, techno and pop in a format that is ideal for a club or house party. Although it’s definitely nothing ground breaking, Infinity+1 offers something for everyone who is a fan of synthesizers.

Intended to be a mix CD, Infinity +1 features the work of artists such as Farley Jackmaster Funk, MSTRKRFT, Donnis and Kid Sister, remixed with a blend of hip-hop beats and techno sound. Remixes of John Dahlbäck (including a narration of Shel Silverstein’s poem “Introduction”), Sébastien Tellier, The Golden Filter, Bag Raiders, and Holy Ghost! lean more toward a techno interpretation, while the remix of KIM’s “Party Machini” has a more pop dominated feel. A-Trak’s final song, a remix of James Yuill’s “This Sweet Love” (Prins Thomas Sneaky Edit) adds a very soft touch of acoustic guitar in harmony with a techno beat. Although this does not resemble any other genre of music featured on Infinity +1, it is a fresh sound which makes this album and its artist stand out.

Some tracks are less impressive than others and some songs are reminiscent of 90’s pop workout music. But A-Trak does not compromise the greatness of his remixing, or the desired feel of a song, with any anything unnecessary that might detract from the quality of his music.

If you’re looking for an interesting, or upbeat, sound to complete any party or get you in a dancing mood, Infinity +1 should do the trick.
