Still the Best Selling Jazz Album. Ever.

Penthouse to celebrate the R.I.A.A. certification of landmark jazz album Kind of Blue, going 4x Platinum along with the release of the 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition. The swanky cocktail party was sponsored by Wente Vineyards, who showcased The Nth Degree, a handcrafted, limited production wine poured by Karl Wente. Russian Standard Vodka also created a specialty drink called “Kind Of Blue,” served with cavier of course.

But the event wasn’t about sponsors it was about the music. The party paid special tribute to legendary drummer Jimmy Cobb, the last surviving member from the album sessions, with the presentation of a custom made snare drum by Innovation Drum commemorating the 50th Anniversary. Along with Cobb other Davis alums like Lenny White, Wallace Roneyand producer George Avakiancame out to pay tribute to an album that after all these years is still ranked the #1 best-selling jazz album of all time. The album is also on Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time ranking #11.
