Alyson Greenfield @ Googie’s Lounge

Few performers can claim to have toured with Madonna, even fewer to have toured with her and never stepped foot on sheila_mcmanus
a stage. However Ohio-native Alyson Greenfield's first show back in New York City at Googie's Lounge, she regaled the near-capacity crowd with tales of close to six months spent as and this one's a mouthful "the home school instructor to Madonna's personal

trainer's son.”

She started the set with a song she'd written while on the road with "Madonna's Lackeys" discussing missing her friends and life in the city.

Greenfield then apologized to the crowd for not having her Casio, which has become a hallmark of her live shows. Some fans cheer more for the 1980s child's toy then the performer herself, though of course it's all in fun.She then performed a few older tunes on piano, providing witty banter between them and helping to put the songs in context. Much of Greenfield's charm comes from just how personal her songs are, each having its own story in relation to her life.

Later in the night, she announced that it was finally time to see the "real star of the show" producing a multi-colored xylophone from a bag. After much confusion as to how best to mic it, during which the absent sound-tech received some good natured if not slightly deserved ribbing, she played the last new song of the evening, a song written while staying at a friend's, on the very same xylophone. She closed out the set with a few of the first songs she'd ever written, switching between acoustic guitar and the piano.
