Ike Jackson Report: Ashley Angel - Sweet 17
Ashley Angel sings as good as she looks. A young starlet on the come up, Ashley has undergone a meteoric rise from girl next door to overnight celebrity. After gaining fame through her appearance in Soulja Boy’s “Soulja Girl” video, Ashley has recently signed a deal with Richard “Younglord” Frierson’s The Truth label. 
At the young age of 17, Ashley is an enormous talent that will soon be a household name. I recently caught up with Ashley to ask her a few questions about her recent deal and future projects.
Ike Jackson: Where are you from?
Ashley Angel: I am from New Jersey, but I am now living in Atlanta pursuing my career.
IJ: How did you become a video vixen at only 17 and appear in the “Soulja Girl” video?
AA: I wouldn't call myself a video vixen. That's not a title that I want to portray. I am a friend of Soulja Boy and he personally requested me to be the main girl in his video. His label contacted me and I was on my way to LA within four days of his request. The experience was great and with the video hitting the number 1 spot on BET's 106th and Park, with over 15 million YouTube views, I can't complain. I love it.
IJ: So what made you want to become a singer /actress when you could have stayed the darling of the young hip-hop audience?
AA: Ever since I can remember, people always told me I should be on TV because of my bubbly personality. I love to be the center of attention. I love to sing. It's part of me. Besides, I can never see myself working a 9 to 5.
IJ: Are you on a label?
AA: Yes, I recently signed to the Truth Label.
IJ: What kind of music do you record?
AA: It’s R&B/Pop.
AA: Yeah, I'm ready to take both of their spots.
IJ: What producers are you working with now?
AA: I’m working with a lot of up and coming producers like J Kits and J Wes, MaddScientist, Full Scale and many more.
IJ: I heard you are going to be doing some things for the NBA. Are you already entertaining big business and their big audiences?
AA: This will be a first for me. It is going to be a great experience. I'm so excited.
IJ: How do you stay grounded with all the attention you are getting now?
AA: I’m focused on the goals that I've set for myself. I’m also working with a team of people that see the same vision for me.
IJ: So what else should we look for from you in 2008?
AA: Look out for my single coming soon. TV and movies to follow. Mega stardom will soon equal Ashley Angel.
