Tru Life: I'm Behind Bars--No Really!
Rapper Tru life, (Robert Rosado), was arrested Monday for the murder of Christopher Guerrero, 20, and the stabbing of Jason Grey, age 27.
Rosado was signed four years ago to a multi-million dollar deal by Roc-a-Fella, the label of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z.
After willingly turning himself into the police, Rosado has pleaded not guilty to the charges of second-degree murder and gang assault.
Before his arrest, Rosado was one of the hip-hop world's fastest rising stars, having signed a multi-million dollar deal with Jay-Z's Roc-a-Fella Records.
Since Mr. Rosado’s arrest, his brother Marcus, the alleged accomplice, has also turned himself in and now faces similar charges.
The deadly attack occurred at 9:30 A.M. in the lobby of Mr. Guerrero’s east side apartment. According to police, the conflict began earlier that morning in an all out brawl in front of Club Pacha, where Michael Slater, a suspected drug dealer, was shot dead. Police believe that this was an act of retaliation. According to the New York Times, Mr. Guerrero died from injuries to his internal organs and loss of blood. Mr. Grey has survived the injuries but remains in critical condition.
In a New York Times interview Robert Rosado’s lawyer stated his client was “not guilty of any of the charges brought against him. He is an extremely talented artist, and I am confident that he will be vindicated in court.” In addition, Marcus Rosado’s lawyer, Gino Josh Singer, explained his client’s behavior stating Marcus “surrendered this morning because he is not guilty of the crimes he is being charged with, and, when the facts are revealed, his innocence will be established.”
Robert Rosado is currently being held at Riker’s Island without bail.
