Scales of Memory Ticket Giveaway

BRM and BAM are proud to give away 2 pairs of tickets to Les écailles de la mémoire (The Scales of the Memory), Friday night performance, to a BRM reader who sends the best reason for why they should win a pair of tickets to The Scales of Memory.

About BAM's Next Wave Festival and Les écailles de la mémoire (The Scales of Memory):

BAM's Next Wave Festival, which enters its 26th season in 2008, has constantly changed the landscape of culture through breakout performances, landmark productions, daring experiments, and once-in-a-lifetime moments. This year, in a dance work that examines love, memory, and perseverance, Brooklyn's all-female Urban Bush Women make their long-awaited return to the Next Wave Festival with Les écailles de la mémoire (The Scales of the Memory)

Created over a two year period through a series of residencies in Senegal, Florida, and Brooklyn, the evening-length work is a collaboration between choreographers Germaine Acogny and Jawole Willa Jo Zollar. Fourteen performers bring to light through dance a meticulous blend of personal identity, cultural memory, and self discovery marked by the history of the African Diaspora. Each year, something bolder and riskier ensues, so come see what the Washington Post has called "an extraordinary view of history's footprint on the present, and an invitation to the ghosts that haunt us all."

Showings are at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House November 19th, 21st, and 22nd at 7:30. Tickets are $20, 30, and 40.
